I'm not sure we could run a game north of the border (what a ball ache doing a recce!) but we can certainly organise a bus trip up there for a game when they are ready.
I have mentioned this in past convos with Ernie and we have all pondered on returning Warren's visit to us for the Arnhem game.

I must say Beth's Scottish thing took me aback - I've had a think and I'm sure there hasn't been any antipathy towards the Scots.

Nor I. However, if that's the perception and what they talk about in the safezone when the CiA forum is mentioned, it's not a good thing.

Well, I have sent an apologetic PM to Beth and asked that POW post up here what they are up to - I pointed out that on the masthead it says 'The UK WW2 Airsoft Community Forum' and the UK includes Scotland!

Beth copied me into the PM too, I've also replied explaining that Gadge has been a bit 'cockish' on several ocassions of late. I'm also not sure if they realise that he and Yith aren't part of CiA anymore so I've clarified that.

I received a snotty reply from him after my pm (no surprise) :D

I think Ernie would kill him if he ever sees him anywhere. LMAO

Our players are raging over this BTW. Piss poor publicity for him - but I will make sure they know its NOT the forum who's done.

I'm actually contemplating a complaint to AI Magazine. I do have a good friend (Frenchie at Airsoft World) who will point me in the right direction to do that. If he wants to act like an arse, he's pissing around with the wrong Canadian.

If he wants to act like an arse, he's pissing around with the wrong Canadian.

Beth, please feel free to ask your players to send Gadge abusive PM's, he deserves no less.

Unfortunately Gadge is VERY cheap as a writer on AI mag (Gadge would write in it for free just to call himself the AI correspondent) so I doubt Paul Monaff would be unduly bothered who he pisses off. UNLESS it affected advertising. And Frenchie advertises in AI. He's your man!

Heh, what a bitch I am. :giggle: :giggle:

I'll be having a word with Monaf about this, even if if does do fuck all about it. Mind you, Gadge is not exactly Mr Popular over at Ebcon Towers at the moment anyway - he's being a right pain in the backside.

This to me via PM from Ghost Macroth:

Hi. Just wanted to be sure you got the unedited copy of my complaint in case that fud Gadge tries to edit it. TBH, I'm not that bothered if I did get banned off here, it's got some good folk like yourself, Chommers, Heide, and more. But it's like when you drive. Do you remember all the drivers who let you out of a slip road, or gave you plenty of room in front and behind? No, you remember that one dickhead who cut you up.

''Hi.

Just thought I'd ask what the hell the POW thread was for? Up until your overreaction to Scout's post it seemed to be a fine thread, helping awareness of a new outlet for those with a passion for WW2. Then you've gone and ruined it. What exactly does 'now my questions have been answered' mean? Forgive me if I may be seeming dense and not just taking the phrase as it was written, but considering your response to Sgt. Heides comment, it does seem you have some sort of 'issue' here.

I've noticed on a few threads the way you seem to 'dismiss' those you deem unworthy of your ‘knowledge’ (myself included) and wondered if the double standard you embody is just your problem, or is it forum wide? This forum advertises it's self as a 'friendly community promoting WW2 airsoft', yet when new folk ask questions you generally ignore, or condescend to them. A perfect example would be when I remarked to some yankee fellow that a Brit airborne load may be a way for him with the release of the sten Mk2 and you immediately dismissed that out of hand, as the para's would use Mk5's (which of course are not available). A couple of days later you made a post berating the 'stitch bitches' who insist everything has to be perfect,
stating it was your pet hate due to soldiers having to make do with what they could get, and then beg, borrow or steal to keep them combat effective. So why the first post??? Surely I could have picked up a weapon off some French resistance fighter when mine broke / got lost / was eaten by squirrels??

Perhaps you just don't want new players joining your forum, or get a kick out of being the man 'in the know' over and above the others. Either way, you're doing a fine job of ensuring this forum does NOT live up the the tag of 'A friendly community'.''

And my reply:

Just to be clear, Gadge is not a moderator on this forum, neither is it his.

Any and all berating via PM that you throw his way is both deserved and welcome. CiA parted company with Gadge (for exactly this reason) a couple of years ago, and we've gone from strength to strength since then.

The sooner his childish ways are put in check, the better.

Go for it.

For the record, we would always welcome you guys along to our events, and would love to get up north when possible. Ernie's attended the WW2 games that I organised over 5 years ago, so it would be great to see him again, and all the people he's encouraged over to the WW2 side of things.

:good:

Stephen

LOL, my reply to same PM:

Yes, I'm sorry about Gadge's behaviour - we have been discussing this with Beth all evening!

Gadge isn't a member of CiA and he isn't a moderator on the forum either.

And you most definitely won't be banned from his forum! I agree with your sentiments. We (CiA) are furious at the stupidity of Gadge. Apart from anything else he MUST know about POW - or is it only his own posts he reads??

So, just to be clear - this isn't Gadge's forum, it is run by the five members of CiA (myself, Headshot, Kermit, Sgt. Heide and Old 'Un) for the benefit of ALL in the WW2 airsoft community.

Sorry once again,

cheers
David

Thanks for the rapid response!! See, I came on this forum 'cause Ernie told me to, as it would expand my limited knowledge of WW2 (having grown up learning history from hollywood!!) and for the most part, it has been excellent. I have picked up tips, and kit, and generally feel more informed about the whole period of history in question. But just about EVERY person I've told to go on this forum, has either shied away after reading comments from Gadge, Yith and the likes, or been directly pissed off by them. I mean, none of us lived in the time, and unless you were born with a copy of the world at war in yer hand, you've gotta learn sometime right?? I just hope this incident will give me something to counter those who won't join cause of dicks like them, and they will se that guys like you will indeed welcome them with open arms!!

Thanks again.

No worries. All are welcome and if there are enough of you to feel like you want a forum section for yourselves, just tip us the wink and we'll sort it out.

Gadge and Yith are petty and pathetic and argue amongst themselves so much it's absurd. Their knowledge is limited, yet they hold themselves up as the paragons of the WW2 scene. If they're doing this forum so much of a disservice as to prevent people joining in the fun, then they're more damaging than I thought.

Time for words to be had methinks.

All the best

Stephen

Outstanding. On every count. I don't think us self segregating is a positive step, we want to be part of (not simply contained within) this community. As I pointed out, budding WW2 enthusiasts can get a lot of cracking info here, and meet some cool interesting people (who they can hopefully shoot at one day!!).

TBH what pised me off most about the whole thing is (with me being under the illusion he was a mod) that when I first spotted the thread I thought 'Yay!!! They know we're here, they're asking questions!! Mibbe sometime they'll wanna come play!!', and then the horseshit kicked in. :(

I'd also ask that the thread be re-opened, and left open. That way, he cannot hide his arsehole-nes (sorry, it's gettimng late, I'm celebrating getting 2 new contracts in, and I'm making up words now!!) from fellow forum members.

Thanks again, y'er a star sir. :good:

So, it seems that the damage that Gadge and Yith are causing by creating rifts in the WW2 airsoft scene are worse than we thought, and worse than we've experienced ourselves.

I do think we need to take this up with them; possibly on the 'Mods' forum section to make it public and open the debate more fully.

I think it's completely unacceptable that the thread was removed by a PBI mod, clearly on Gadge's request. I also think it's unacceptable that the external perception of CiA and this forum is driven so strongly by two people whose opinion is rated pretty poorly by the majority of the community.

Along similar lines continuing from/to Ghost:

(sorry, but I copied and pasted this response to both yourself and Headshot!!)

Yeah, Headshot's reply to you was similar to mine wasn't it!

Unfortunately Gadge and Yith think they are being helpful but come over as being 'oracles of all that is WW2' and very humourless at that and I suppose there is a good measure of 'look how much we know' in there as well. And this doesn't come over at all well on a forum.

However, the CiA team take a somewhat lighter view of things (and I say that as a reenactor as well as airsofter) and I think most forum users do too.

Cheers
David

Yep, you guys are far more......open to new folk I've noticed (which is why I contacted you two!!), and I do remember your thread on re-enactor or airsofter...discuss. Guess which point I stopped reading? Yep, the oracles spoke, and then shat on anything anyone else said. He's PM'd me back with some horseshit about how his meaning was misinterperated, and he asked for the thread to be closed. Personally, if I ever come accross wrong, I try to explain myself or admit I was a prick, not get out the e-tool and dig a fecking hole!!

Cheers again Chommers.

I've posted a critical and open thread on the mods section.

I'm not letting him get away with this without criticism. Hopefully DM or Yith will feed back to the prick.

On reflection I think removing the thread was the correct course of action. Not to save Gadge's embarrassment but more importantly it prevented a massive on-line bust up between CiA forum and the Scots. We contained it and turned the situation round out of the glare of publicity so that's great. Sadly Gadge got raped by it all but then he did bring it on himself.

So, what to do? Well, there are positive sides to Gadge & Yith - yes there are! - but the negative sides are very damaging. I must admit I'm at a bit of a loss what to do. Banning or anything as draconian as that would be counter-productive and not reflect on us well. There is an anti-CiA feeling out there as well - 'who do they think they are' sort of thing.

I asked Ernie a long time ago if he wanted a forum section for POW but he was very reluctant (they did have a part of the Airsoft World forum but I don't think that is the case now) - at least I know the reason behind his reluctance now!

I don't think banning is the solution. Give them enough rope and they'll hang themselves. Simple as that.

However, this perception of CiA is a bad one, and unwarranted I feel.

Who do we think we are? We're the people who set this whole thing up in the first place, we're the people who organised the first WW2 games in the UK, we're the people who were attending reenactment events as airsofters 6-7 years ago, we're the people who created this entire forum, and thus the entire community.

We've got every right to be proud about that. However, if the pride is perceived as arrogance by outsiders, then we need to do some PR work.

Some of the more jealous and uppity types (I'm thinking G&Y and the Dog Company guys) will never change their minds because them made them up and have publicly done so, and to change that would appear to be a u-turn and thus weak. So they won't. They'll be bloody minded about it and will cut off their nose to spite their face and won't attend CiA events.
